Mary Elizabeth Kaiser, 82, died Saturday, May 8, 2021. She was the wife of Robert J. Kaiser, and they were married 59 years. They were residents of Westminster Canterbury, Lynchburg, VA.
She was the twin sister of Paul F. Fitzgerald, M.D. and sister-in-law of Elizabeth (Libby) Miller Fitzgerald, of Lynchburg, VA.
Mary Elizabeth is the mother of three sons, Robert J. (Chip) Kaiser of Casco, ME, Christopher F. (wife Gita) Kaiser of Hilo, HI and Colin P. (wife Maile) Kaiser of Manhattan Beach, CA. She is also the grandmother of Dylan (age 17), Connor (age 14) and Kaela (age 12) all of Manhattan Beach, CA.
Mary Elizabeth was born July 9, 1938 in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY to the late Francis M. Fitgzerald and May Butenschoen Fitzgerald. “Mort” and May Fitzgerald were married for 25 years before they gave birth to twins, which were their only children.
Mary Elizabeth attended St. Agnes Academy in Rockville Centre and Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, graduating in 1960, before marrying Bob in 1961.
The couple lived in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Laguna Hills, CA before moving to Virginia to be close to her twin brother and his wife.
Mary Elizabeth was involved in fashion and modeling for many years, primarily in Washington, D.C. and Southern California.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary Elizabeth’s Mass of the Resurrection at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 710 Clay Street, Lynchburg, VA at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made either to Holy Cross Church or Westminster Canterbury Foundation, 501 VES Road, Lynchburg, VA 20453.
