Mary Elizabeth Matice

Mary Elizabeth Matice of Forest, Virginia passed away on May 27, 2024, at the young age of 41.  She was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 30, 1982.  Mary was a light in the eyes of all who knew her.  She was the beloved wife of Carl Matice and the loving mother to her daughters Zoey (age 6) and Ivy (age 4) who she cherished with all her heart.  
 
Mary was a 2001 graduate of Colonial Hills Christian High School in Lithia Springs, GA.  After High School, she spent 2 years as an Apprentice at the Miracle Mountain Ranch in Spring Creek, PA where she met her husband and made many lifelong friends.  She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and was recently pursuing a Master of Arts degree from the same institution.  Before she had children, with her very creative side, she began to make Chocolate from the bean as a hobby at home which eventually led she and her husband to open the popular Altus Chocolate shop in Lynchburg for a few years.  
 
Mary had a big heart and was always thinking of ways to help others.  She most enjoyed volunteering at her children’s schools, was a member of the Motherhood Collective, and was involved in a wonderfully loving small group at her church. 
 
She loved living in Lynchburg and spent many happy days walking trails in the nearby mountains and driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway.    
 
She was a cherished, loyal friend who was loved by so many.  
 
Besides her husband and children, Mary is survived by her mother, stepfather, brother, stepsisters, step-grandmothers, aunts and uncles, niece and nephew, and a multitude of cousins all of whom are heartbroken by her loss.  
 
To say goodbye to our dear sweet Mary, a service will be held Saturday, June 8th at 10 A.M. at the Gospel Community Church, Rivermont Campus,1301 Rivermont Ave, Lynchburg, VA.
