Mary Esther Sheely Carpenter, 88, of Forest went to be with her Lord Monday March 23, 2015. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert G. Carpenter.
Mary was born August 18, 1926, in Lima, Ohio, a daughter of the late Berl William Sheely and the late Helen Thiesing Sheely. She retired as a bookkeeper with Sinclair Implement Company in Martinsville, Ill. and was a faithful member of the Martinsville Bible Church until they relocated to Virginia in 1992, where they became members of Heritage Baptist Church.
She is survived by her five children, Carol Ann Guyer (Larry) of Mich., Robert Berl Carpenter (Marsha) of Pa., Helen Elizabeth Brown (Lamont) of Forest, Jacqueline Celeste Carpenter of Colo., and Lori Jo Carpenter of Colo.; seven grandchildren, Larry Ray Guyer, Neil Robert Guyer (Fahria), Melissa Lucia (Christian), Tasha Brown (David), Charity Light (Eric), Lindsay Adams (Kent), and Aaron Carpenter (Melissa); twelve great-grandchildren, Joseph Paul Brown (Lindsey), Tiffani Brown, Taylor Brown, Haley Brown, Hunter Brown, Agnes Marie Guyer, Enzo Lucia, Tessa Lucia, Bella Lucia, Jax Light, Chase Adams, Leah Adams; and one soon-to-arrive great-great-grandchild, Landen Jack Brown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Sheely.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Heritage Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Heritage Baptist Church with Dr. Gerald Kroll officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church Building Fund, 219 Breezewood Drive Lynchburg, VA 24502, or to the Centra Hospice, 3300 Rivermont Avenue Lynchburg, VA 24503.
