Mary Lee Mottley Chernault, 94, of Lynchburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26th, 2020. She was born in Buckingham County on February 24, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Joel William Mottley and Nannie Childress Mottley.
She was the wife of the late Frank Edward Chernault. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Mottley Rodgers and Shirley Mottley; and brothers, William, Haney and Eugene Mottley.
Mary considered her family – her son, daughter, and grandchildren to be her greatest source of pride and happiness.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Edward Neal Chernault; daughter, Mary Catherine Carrington (Kurt Guske); beloved granddaughter, Sarah Davis (Dustin); cherished grandsons, Hunter and Grayson Carrington; great grandchildren, Madeline and Carter Davis; brothers, Earl and Kirby Mottley, and special grand dog, Buddy.
A private service will be held in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A memorial will be held at a later date, post COVID.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Friends of Campbell County Animal Control.
In addition, the family would like to thank the staff at Centra Hospice for their care and support.
