Mary Lizzie Hancock Robinson departed this life on February 4, 2021 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Mary was born on November 8, 1941 in Appomattox, to the late Bert and Virginia Hancock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Robinson, Anna Marie Johnson, and Clara Neal.

She attended the Carver Price School and completed her education in Washington, D.C., where she earned several professional certifications. Throughout her life she was employed by International Safeway, General Electric Corporation, and as a supervisor at Archer Creek Foundry. Mary professed her faith at an early age, and was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church in Appomattox.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Robinson (Dale) of Madison Heights, VA; and two sons, James Robinson (Pramila) of Newport News, VA, and Brandon Huffman of Reston, VA; one grandson, Brian Robinson (Sandy) of Madison, AL and two great-granddaughters, Meleah Robinson and Zoe Robinson, both of Madison, AL. Mary is also survived by two sisters, Martha Ann Haskins and Emma Eubanks, both of Lynchburg, VA; one brother, David Hancock of Philadelphia, PA; one aunt, Helen Kelso of Appomattox, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Extended family includes Melissa Ford (Aaron) of Madison, AL. Devoted friends who mourn her loss include David Huffman of Madison Heights, VA, and Donna Robinson of Harrisonburg, VA, both of whom visited often.

Per Mary’s request, she will be cremated. The family will hold a private celebration of life on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Promise Land Baptist Church in Appomattox, VA. Masks and social distancing will be strictly enforced. The service will be streamed live on the Promise Land Baptist Church Facebook page for those wishing to attend virtually. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no repass or visitation.
