Mary Shipp Unrue, 81, of Lynchburg died Friday, March 22, 2019. She was the wife of the late Claude Douglas Unrue, Jr.
Mary was born August 20, 1937 in Charlotte County, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Shipp and Gertrude Rice Shipp. Mary was retired from Ross Laboratory, where she worked in production. She was a long-time member of First Monroe Baptist Church. Mary was known for her love of animals and her kindness to all.
She is survived by her brother Robert L. Shipp of Chester, one sister Mildred S. Burks of Monroe, four half-brothers, Paul, Richard, Clyde and Gene Shipp, two half-sisters, Ann Maddox and Fay Adams and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Doug and her sister Ola Mae Guthrie.
A Graveside service for Mary will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
