Mary Singleton Harrell died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at her residence in Lynchburg, Va. She was the wife of the late Earl Reid ‘Blake” Harrell.
She was born Wednesday, June 4, 1930, in Naruna, Va., a daughter of the late Franklin Leslie Singleton Sr., and Bettie Hazel Kelly Singleton.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Kimbley Fay Harrell; two brothers, Silas S. Singleton and Franklin Leslie Singleton Jr.; and a sister, Helen S. Wright
Mary was a devoted member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church where she served her Lord, and had retired from C.B. Fleet. She also was a member of Rebekah’s #41 Lodge.
She is survived by her son, Kelly Reid Harrell; a brother, David Kelly Singleton and his wife Pat, all of Lynchburg; her nephews, Dennis Wright, of Houston, Tx., Tracy Wright, of Fla., Bryan Singleton, of Atlanta, Ga., and Mark Singleton, of Abington, Va.; her nieces, Ginger W. Paris of Bedford Co., and Laura S. Owens of Cary, N.C.; and many, many, friends, including those from her residency at Valley View Retirement Community.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 12, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive Lynchburg, VA 24502.
A graveside service will be held Monday, February 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Reverend Ian Mc Manamey officiating.
