Mary Stover Dills

Mary Stover Dills, 88, of Moneta, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Smith Mountain Lake Retirement Village, Runk & Pratt. She was born on February 22, 1923 in Myerstown, PA. A daughter of the late Raymond John Stover and Edna Walborn Stover. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Neva Kathryn Miller and Arlene Kratzer.

Mary served in the United States Army Nurse Corps during WWII. She was a charter member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish in Moneta. She Retired from the VA Hospital of Salisbury, NC as a Registered Nurse. Mary loved spending time with all of her friends at the local library. She was a active member of the Smith Mountain Lake Newcomers and the gardening club.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Napier Luzerne Dills. After their marriage on October 10, 1945 they had three children, James Alexander Dills and his wife, Karen of Savannah, GA, Mary Elizabeth Dills of Stockbridge, GA and John Stover Dills and his wife, Heidi of Litchfield, KY; 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Nicole, Jay, Katie and Ben; 6 great-grandchildren, Anna, Addison, Paige, Jax, Khloe, and Max.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Trinity Ecumenical Parish in Moneta with Pastor Gary Scheidt officiating. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540)-586-3443.
