Mary Virginia Robertson
Mary Virginia Dinwiddie Robertson, 104, of Forest, VA, died Friday, September 09, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Herbert Robertson.
Born Friday, August 16, 1907 in Franklin County, VA, Virginia was a daughter of the late Thomas Winston Dinwiddie and Nettie Mattox Dinwiddie.
Virginia is survived by her children; Ernest M. Robertson, and his wife, Martha, of Lynchburg, Henry W. Robertson and his wife, Edith, of Forest, Sedella R. Austin and her husband, Joe of Grand Prairie, TX, Earl S. Robertson and his friend, Lou Brown, Rebecca R. Tinnell, of Forest, a sister; Juanita D. Parker, of Hampton, VA, a daughter in-law; Joyce Robertson, of Roanoke, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Virginia I. Robertson, a son; Herbert, four brothers; Winston, Thomas, James and Gilbert Dinwiddie, a grandson; William Ernest Robertson, and a daughter in-law; Shirley Robertson.
Virginia loved her church, Forest United Methodist Church; she took great pleasure in providing flowers for the church. She was a member of the Forest Eastern Star. Virginia\"™s door was always open. She farmed and worked beside her husband. She was a very determined woman. \"I can\"™t\" was not part of her vocabulary. She loved to sew and make quilts. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and at other times at the residence. A celebration of Virginia\"™s life will be conducted at 11:00 on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Rev. William Burleigh officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
