Mary Woodford Spradlin

Mary Virginia Woodford Spradlin, 94, of Altavista, died Monday, May 21, 2012 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was born November 23, 1917 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Ella Catherine Wood Woodford and Joel Shepherd Woodford. She was the last of thirteen children surviving.

Mary was a member of Ephesus United Methodist Church. She was employed at Rubatex Corp. for over 20 years.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John Aubrey Spradlin. She is survived by four children, Carolyn Roakes of Altavista, Sandra Spradlin of Vinton, Jill Alouf of Roanoke, and Ronald Spradlin of Huddleston; five grandchildren, Lisa Dennis, Robert Hodnett, Heidi Spradlin-Rios, Ashley Alouf and Alexa Alouf; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Rios and Ember Rios.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1715 Otter Hill Road, Bedford, VA 24523.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11AM, Friday, May 25, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie G. Glass officiating.
