Mattie Belle Trent White, 85, of Bedford, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She is a daughter of the late Frank Trent and Evadne Jordan Trent. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters.
Mattie was born on Monday, January 2, 1928, in Phenix, VA. She was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed portraying Santa Claus for their annual Christmas presentation, and also for a neighboring Methodist church for many years. Another role Mattie played was \"Belle the Clown\" at the White House Association Fall Festival for 19 years, bringing joy and laughter to many. Mattie was a seamstress with Halmode Apparell Clothing Manufacturer, retiring with over 20 years of service.
Mattie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Darrell E. White, Sr.; a son, Darrell E. White, II, of Moneta; a daughter, Belinda W. Goode, and her husband, Mark, of Huddleston; grandchildren, Jeffrey K. Mason, II, Bradley T. Mason and Cassidy R. Goode, all of Huddleston; a great-grandchild, Joshua Michael Mason, of Moneta; along with five nieces.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Turner officiating. .
