Mattie Reed Overstreet

Mattie Frances Reed Overstreet, 89, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Bedford County Nursing Home. Born in Floyd, VA on December 2, 1922, a daughter of the late Charles Benjamin Reed and Ollie Ocie Beckner. In addition to her parents, Mattie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest Ted Overstreet; three brothers, Cliff, James, and Charles; four sisters, Ethel, Emma, Hattie, and Beatrice.

Mattie was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church. She worked and retired from Bedford Weaving Mill where she was head weaver.

She is survived by three children, Barbara O. McManus and husband, Randy, Daniel A. Landis, Jr., and Gary V. Overstreet and his wife, Linda; five grandchildren, Michelle Derrick, Jeffrey Landis, Randy Overstreet, Cory Byrd, and Kandis Stewart; seven great-grandchildren, Erica Derrick, Bryanna Derrick, Tyler Overstreet, Peyton Overstreet, Jacob Stewart, Cameron Stewart, and Shae Byrd; one sister, Edith R. Wilkes; also numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mattie\"™s life will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2012 at Bedford Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Salley officiating. Burial will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
