Maxine Ivey Crabtree, 87, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016. She was the widow of Jesse Earnest Crabtree, Jr. They were married for over 41 years.
She was born May 3, 1929, in Petersburg, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Dorsey (David) Edward Ivey, Sr. and Charlotte Louise Cox Ivey Clark. Maxine loved to travel, go to the beach, read, and work on her family history. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, and the Red Hill Chapter of Daughters of The American Revolution.
Maxine is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Lynette Crabtree Smith, and her husband, Troy, two precious grandchildren, Tessa Ann Smith and Jesse Wayne Smith, all of Madison Heights. She is also survived by her nieces, Cheryl Boykin, of Mechanicsville, and Frances Patterson, of Richmond; as well as a number of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Mary Louise Ivey Lassiter; and two brothers, Dorsey Ivey and Raymond Ivey.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. both at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Naruna, VA with the Rev. Ricky Ewing officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lynchburg Humane Society, The Salvation Army, or the charity of your choice.
