On November 15, 2013 at 3:00 pm, Jesus Christ called his child Maxine Joyce Lipscomb Wood home to glory. She will be reunited with her precious husband, Ronnie Wood of 54 years.
Born in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Wilbon (Willis) Lipscomb and the late Lena Frazier Lipscomb. Mrs. Wood was the last member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by a sister, Helen L. Cumbie, and a brother W. Carl Lipscomb. She was a loving caregiver to all of her family and during their illness. Maxine was a faithful member of Fairview Christian Church, and the Loyal Sons & Daughters Sunday school class for 68 years. She received many awards for perfect attendance. She was a loving homemaker, and took great pleasure in caring for her family. A trait she passed down to her daughter whom dearly loved her mother.
She is survived by her only child, Sherri Wood Tucker who was her caregiver for the last six months and was by her side holding her hand as she went to be with Jesus, her devoted son-in-law Randy Tucker. She is also survived by her longtime friend Jackie Seldomridge, who called her every day.
The family would like to thank the angels of Centra Hospice for their wonderful care of Maxine and a special thanks to Allie Cowarden who Maxine dearly loved.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday November 20, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home with Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Fairview Christian Church, Caring Fund, 2701 Campbell Avenue, Lynchburg, VA, 24501.
