Melody Franklin-Henry

August 2, 1972 — October 4, 2022

Melody Franklin Henry, fondly known as Buttercup or Melly Mel transitioned to her heavenly home on October 4, 2022. She was the daughter of Leroy Franklin and the late Barbara G. Franklin.

Melody is survived by her twin daughters Rianna and Raniya Henry, sisters Theresa Dorris and Kelly Franklin, her fur babies Cosmo, Pheobe Lee and Sir Nigel, her son in love Steve Johnson, Jr. and a host of other family and friends.

Melody was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she served on the Junior Choir, lending her beautiful voice to sing the praises of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Melody attended Norfolk State University leading to her career in Medical Administration. Melody loved to travel and seeing the world through her own eyes. Melody was loving, kind, brave, and the epitome of endurance. Her fun and outgoing personality will be truly missed but her legacy will live on through our memories and our love for her.

A visitation in celebration of Melody’s life will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 2pm to 4pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. In addition, the family will receive friends at the residence 930 Cabell Street from 3pm to 6pm Thursday 10/6 and Friday 10/7 and from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday 10/8.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.

Revelation 21:4-7

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
