Melvin Loving Stinnett, 82, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, he was preceded in death by his parents Elderidge L. Stinnett and Blanch Mays Stinnett; brother, Roger Stinnett; sisters, Annie Campbell, Arlean Ness, and one great great-grandchild, Clinton Hayes. He was a devoted member of Tree of Life Church.
Survivors include his loving wife Thelma May Stinnett; son, Melvin “Buddy” Stinnett, Jr. and wife Sharon, of Cumberland, Va.; daughters, Angela “Tootie” Bagby, and husband Ronald of Louisa, Va., and Carolyn Stinnett and Robert Watters of Amelia, Va.; son, Jerry and wife Heather, of Powatan, Va.; step-children, Jerry May and wife Linda, of Forest, Va., Larry May and wife Sharon, of Forest, Va., and Jackie Wilson and husband Al, of Lynchburg, Va.; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Stinnett; two sisters, Margaret Francis and Lucy Fuqua; and several nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Bruce Burkholder, of Lynchburg, Va.

A celebration of life for Melvin will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with Rev. David Rowland officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior and interment will follow the service at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Bedford County, Va.
