Mercy Alexander, 83, of Forest went to be with her Christ and Saviour on Sunday, May 19, 2019. She was the wife of her late husband Dr. Alexander Varkey.
Mercy was born October 24, 1935 in Kerala, India. She was a daughter of the late Chemmanur Ukkur and Kunjani Uthuppu Ukkur. Mercy was an active member of the Forest Alliance Church and she was also a member of the International Faith Fellowship. In her free time she loved tending to her vegetable and herb garden. She is survived by her son Dr. Daniel Alexander and his wife Sherrie of Winchester, VA, and one grandson Houlden Alexander of Winchester, VA, a brother Zachariah Chemonoor of Tracy, CA, and a sister Raymol Chemonoor of Kerala, India.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Forest Alliance Church.
A Celebration of Mercy’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Forest Alliance Church with Pastor David Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the church following the committal at the cemetery.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
