Michael Allen Alvis, 53, of Evington, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 14, 2020. He was the devoted, loving husband of Renee Walls Alvis for 30 years.
Allen was born on March 20, 1967 in Lynchburg to the late Frederick Allen Alvis and the late Sonia Elise Riley Alvis.
He was the owner of Kar Krafters, Inc. Even away from work he enjoyed rebuilding and restoring classic cars. He was also a die-hard, absolutely devoted, Washington Redskins fan, win or lose, rain or shine.
Along with his wife he is survived by his daughter Sonia Elise Alvis; his sisters Beth Johnson and her husband, Dan, and Marye Ann Hankla and her husband, Alfred; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Alvis.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, from 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of Allen’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Union Chapel Community Church in Lynch Station, Va. at 2 p.m. with Pastor Chad Miller officiating. Interment will follow the service at Union Chapel Community Church Cemetery.
