Michael Anthony Andrews

Michael Anthony \"Andy\" Andrews, age 52, of Moneta, Virginia passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013. He was born December 27, 1960 to James and Kathryn Andrews of Charlotte Court House, VA. He is survived by his parents; his wife Sheila Brown Andrews; their daughter and her husband, Blair and Brandon Carter of Arlington, VA; and their son Bradley Andrews of Richmond, Va. He is also survived by two brothers, Randy and Debra Andrews of Charlotte Court House, VA, and Carlton Andrews and Shannon Miles of Lynchburg, VA; and seven nieces and nephews.

A former resident of Forest, Virginia, he and Sheila, his wife of 31 years, have resided at Smith Mountain Lake for the past 7 years where he quickly became involved in his community. Andy worked actively for the Smith Mountain Lake Visitor\"™s Center and Chamber of Commerce. He was also an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church; there he was the Chair of the Board of Trustees and Project Manager for the church\"™s renovations in 2011. Prior to moving to Smith Mountain Lake, he worked as an Electrical Draftsman at Southern Air in Forest, VA, and was very involved at Jefferson Forest High School, where his children attended, and the Forest Youth Athletic Association. Andy was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a witty and fun-loving friend.

Recently, Andy & Sheila partnered with their friends Bob & Linda Burger to open a gift, wine & deli shop called Oar Knot at Bridgewater Plaza.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta, VA. A Celebration of his life will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Lord officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540)-586-3443.
