Michael Archie Beatrice passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016, at the Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christie and Lucy Beatrice; his brother, Angelo; his sister, Mary; his son, Michael C. Beatrice; and his first wife, Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hutter Beatrice; his son Stephen Paul Beatrice of Spartanburg, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Beatrice; three step-children, James Risque Hutter (Phala) of Martinsville, Beverly Hutter Hunter (Barry) of Virginia Beach, and Mark Edward Hutter of Forest; three step-grandchildren, Bryant Risque Hutter (Jennifer) of Henrico, Scott Hunter (Ginny) of Norfolk, and Laura Kathleen Kasunic (Adam) of Cleveland, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren, Declan Michael Risque Hutter, Tatum Cathleen Hutter of Henrico, and Scarlett Kasunic of Cleveland, Ohio; and special friends Tom and Pat Reynolds of Forest, and Chuck and Carol Carter of the Summit.
Michael was born in Boston August 17, 1920, and moved to Lynchburg in 1957, to help set up the G.E. Plant where he was employed for 43 years. Michael was a long-time member of the Lynchburg Host Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award. He was a faithful member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church where he had served as financial advisor.
The family would like to express gratitude to the entire staff of the Summit Independent Living and the Summit Rehabilitation Center. His caretakers at the rehabilitation center were loving and compassionate, and made his last days happy.
There will be a memorial service at a later date with a private interment service.
Memorials may be made to the Summit Benevolent Fund/Residents, or St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
