Michael Edward Miller, age 76, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley Miller who he was happily married to for 51 years.
Michael was born in Seattle, WA, on February 6, 1942. He was the son of the late John Edward Miller and the late Helen Jean Miller. In addition to his parents and wife, Michael was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Borges.
He is survived by his children, Robert Miller, Julie Miller, Kathy Suyemoto and her husband Kelly; grandchildren, Joshua, Samantha, Shannon, and Jamie Suyemoto; siblings, Sr. Jeanne Mary Miller, Dr. Mark Miller and wife Linda; brother-in-law, Jerry Borges and sister-in-law’s Jean Lee and Kay Franklin.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Michael married his first love Shirley and raised the family in Arleta, California. He made his career in the Grocery store industry starting at age 13 as a box boy continuing to Store Manager. Mike enjoyed camping and travel with his family and was strong in his Catholic faith. After retiring, Mike and Shirley moved to Virginia where he was happy helping family and friends with any project he could and made good friends of his neighbors who all looked out for each other.
