Michael Elwood Brown

 

Michael Elwood Brown, 54, of Rustburg, VA, died Thursday, May 23, 2013. 

Born Tuesday, August 12, 1958 in Wilson, NC, Mike was a son of the late Elwood Thomas Brown and Joyce Hill Brown

In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by a very special friend Wanda Tolley, of Rustburg, two sons:  Michael Cooper and his wife, Melanie, of  Lynchburg, and Jeremy Cooper and his wife, Jessica, of Raleigh NC; four grandsons:  Jared Michael Cooper, of Lynchburg, Hunter Dean Cooper, of Lynchburg, Austin Randall Cooper, of Lynchburg, and Jeremy Nathaniel Cooper, of Raleigh, NC;  a granddaughter, Hannah Leigh Cooper of Raleigh, NC, a sister  Shari B. Wilson and her husband, Bill, of  Roanoke, VA, a brother, Gary Brown and his wife, Julie, of Youngsville, NC, four nieces: Lilly Thomas, of Roanoke, VA, Spencer Brown, of Youngsville, NC,  Sydney Brown, Youngsville, NC, and Jami L. Brown, of N.Y., NY, ; three nephews: Will Thomas, of Roanoke, VA, Carter Wilson, of Roanoke, VA, and Ryan Wilson, of Roanoke, VA, and special family: Denise, Hailey, Chris, Lindsey, and D.J. Doss, all of Lynchburg.

In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by a nephew, Cole Patrick Thomas.

Mike was an avid sports fan. He graduated in 1976 from Jefferson Forest High where he played baseball and basketball. He was a huge UVA fan. A hard worker Mike was retired Electrical Engineer for Mohawk Industries in Bennettsville, SC.

A celebration of Michael's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with the Reverend Danny Hill officiating.  A reception will follow the service.

The family would like to thank Centra Hospice and especially Alice Powell and Kathryn Kirkpatrick for the loving care given to Mike.
