Michael (Mike) Lee Mcdaniel

September 9, 1958 — November 3, 2015

Michael Lee McDaniel, 57, of Lynchburg, VA, passed Tuesday, November 03, 2015, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Tuesday, September 09, 1958 in Java, Mike was a son of Merle Rogers McDaniel and the late Doris Simmons McDaniel.

In addition to his father, Mike is survived by his best friend, James Goff, of Lynchburg, two sisters, Barbara Wilson, of Lynchburg, and Brenda Branham and her husband, Russell, of Pound, VA, two nieces, and a nephew.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and at others times at the residence.

Mike was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Cincinnati Reds, the Virginia Cavaliers and the Washington Redskins. A caring and compassionate person, he could be counted on to help someone in need. He loved the fine arts, ballet, theater, and to travel. He will be remembered for his contagious laughter, gardening, and the color orange. Mike was known for being a great cook for 28 years at Country Kitchen and most recently at Moore’s Country Store. He fought the tough battle and is now cancer free.
