Michael “Mike” White

April 10, 1957 — November 27, 2020

Michael “Mike” White, 63, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.  He was born on April 10, 1957 in Pittsylvania County, VA.  He was the son of the late Raymond R. White, Sr., and Mrs. Marie Lindsey White.  Michael was preceded in death by his father, Raymond R. White, Sr., a brother, Raymond R. White, Jr., and two sisters, Joyce Joseph and Carolyn Helm.

Michael professed his faith in Christ at an early age and joined Court Street Baptist Church.  He graduated from E. C. Glass High School in 1975 and attended Pheiffer College in Misenheimer, NC.

Michael was employed by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department for 25 years.  He was a lieutenant and a paramedic during his career in the fire department. He was also a licensed motor vehicle dealer in Virginia.  Prior to his passing, Michael was working as a licensed Virginia real estate agent for Samson Properties in Chantilly, VA.

Michael loved sports, and his favorite sport was basketball.  He played basketball in high school and college.  He also played on several adult teams throughout Fairfax County.  Michael enjoyed teaching and sharing his basketball knowledge with his 7-year-old grandson, Brandon.

Michael’s greatest treasure in life was his family.  He was devoted to his immediate and extended family, providing love and support to all.  He traveled every summer to Danville, VA to attend his family reunion, and never missed a family reunion in all 50 years.  Michael telephoned and/or faced-timed his 95-year-old mother daily to share a laugh and to listen to her talk about her day. He enjoyed sharing stories and memories of past events with his loved ones and friends.  He was very knowledgeable about many things and always had a word of advice to share.  He touched the lives of many people throughout the years.  Michael will be remembered for his comical personality, huge smile, and his zest for life.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years, Pearl White; his mother, Marie Lindsey White; a son, Michael C. White, a daughter, Stephanie White, and a grandson, Brandon Martin, Jr.; three sisters, Dabora White, Sheron White, and Sylvia Hobson; two brothers, Douglas White and Harold White; four sisters-in-law, Carmelita White, Alfreda White, Vanessa White and Carolyn Woodson; two brothers-in-law, James Woodson (Bessie), and Burnell Woodson, Jr.,(Marie); three godchildren, Taylor Houston Simmons, Augustus Houston, Jr., and Kevin Miller; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Michael had a special relationship with friends: Melanie Warner, Doug Butler, Augustus Houston, Sr. and Tim Schiesl. The love and concern that Michael showered on us will sustain us always as we go forth with our earthly lives.
