Michael Chet Quintero was born on June 30, 1946, in Santa Barbara CA to parents Alice Rodriguez McCrumb and Richard Martinez Quintero. He grew up in San Francisco and spent summers in Los Angeles with his grandparents and cousins. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School where he competed in track and field for four years.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts from City College in San Francisco, which is where he met his wife, Melody. He was a member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and served in the United States Marine Corps. After moving to Philadelphia, he earned a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary. He was unfailingly committed to his wife and to his family. He loved Bible study, old books, old coins, and any sort of historical fact. He passed on his love of a wide genre of music to his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.
