Michael Randolph Smith

Mike Smith, 68, of Forest, Virginia, died on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at home after being in declining health for several years. Mr. Smith was born in Stafford, VA on December 16, 1954, son of the late Randolph L. Smith and Pauline R. Smith.
He has lived in the Forest area since 2006, when he retired from the Fredericksburg Police Department. He served our country in several capacities. Mike was a proud Mason with the Mackey Masonic Lodge. On June 18, 1993, he married Martine Smith who survives of the residence. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Heather Richard and husband, Robert, of Fredericksburg, VA; his son, William, of Forest, VA; two grandchildren, Calvin and Ruby Richard; his “little” sister, Debbie Harris and her husband, Phil of Holly Ridge, NC; two nephews, Matthew Harris and Justin Harris and his wife, Brittany; and a great nephew, Trent.
A celebration of life service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Jeremy Breaux officiating.
The family wants to thank all of the nurses, aides and doctors at UVA, Liberty Ridge, and the wonderful people at Gentiva Hospice, for all of their care, assistance, and support.
