Michael Simmons

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Michael Alan Simmons, 52, of Bedford, Virginia passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was born on January 23, 1972, in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Debra Kay Gwin Simmons and surviving father Willaim Albert Simmons of Bedford, VA.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Candy Simmons of Bedford; daughters Brittny Liskey (Michael) and Ashlee Hicks (Colt), sons William Simmons and Christopher Simmons (Victoria); Papa to 12 amazing grandchildren, Owen, Joseph and Bentley Liskey; Glorianna and Sophia Simmons, Alexis, Annabelle, and Kaytlen Hicks; Jayce McKinney, Aubrey, Lincoln, and Summer Simmons; all of Bedford County. Michael was a big brother to Billy Simmons (Billi Lynn) and uncle to Josue, Ashlynn, and Landon Simmons, all of North Pekin, Illinois. He also leaves behind special niece Bridgett Alvarez (Chava) and their children Beronica Romero (Erick), Javier, Elina, Noreyda, Chuy, and Junior Alvarez, all of Bloomington, Illinois; and many loving aunts and uncles, special cousins, and great friends of both Virginia and Illinois. Michael also leaves behind his house hippo, American bully Peanut.

In addition to his mother; ­­­­­Michael is preceded in death by his in laws David and Gloria Carey.

Michael spent most of his adult life working as a mechanic. He was always taking something apart to fix it. In most recent years, he became a contracted floor installer, and his work was immaculate whether he was working with carpet, wood, or tile floors. Michael spent as much time as possible having fun with his grandchildren, whom he cherished beyond words. He was also a member of Cool Springs Presbyterian Church in Thaxton, VA.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday May 4^th, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church- 1987 Big Island Highway Bedford, VA 24523 with Danny Holdren and Geoff Hubbard officiating.
