Michael William Humphries

Michael William Humphries “Santa Claus”, 76, of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Michael was born on December 20, 1947, to the late Robert Ashby Humphries and Louise Rice Humphries.

For many years, Michael was Santa Claus for nonprofits including, Carolina Beach Fire Department. One of Santa’s biggest smiles was from being in the Carolina Beach Christmas Parade. 

After many years of service, Mike retired from First Colony/Genworth. During his time working, he was known as the conscience of the company.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Bob, Tommy, and Jimmy Humphries. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Gunter Humphries; children, Andrea Stutsman (Josh) and Chris Humphries (Angela); granddaughter, Isabella Humphries; brother, Steve Humphries (Sue); sisters, Christine Humphries, Karen Fitch (Mike), and Patricia Humphries; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Indian Hill Church, 2278 Oxford Furnace Rd, Lynchburg, Va., 24504.
