Mildred Karnes Walton
Mildred Elizabeth Karnes Walton, 85, of Bedford, passed away Friday, November 09, 2012. Born May 24, 1927 in Bedford County, VA; she was a daughter of the late Fonie Owen Karnes and Rebecca St. Clair Karnes, and the widow of Warren Garland Walton.
Mildred was a member of St. John\"™s Episcopal Church. She worked as a laboratory technician with Dupont Chemical for 40 years. She loved to garden and was a devoted volunteer with the Women\"™s Auxiliary of Bedford Memorial Hospital.
Mildred is survived by her sister-in-law, Pamela S. Gillette, and husband, Donald M., of Roanoke; a nephew, Brian M. Karnes; three nieces, Kellie K. Moon, Angela K. Krantz and Susan K. Tate.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012, in Greenwood Cemetery with The Rev. F. Wilson Brown and Dr. Donald M. Gillette officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. this afternoon, November 10, 2012, at Tharp Funeral Home. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 540-586-3443.
