Mildred Kirkpatrick Beard, 90, of Lynchburg died Thursday, December 26, 2013. She was the wife of the late Horace Elmer Bondurant and the late Harold Curtis Beard, Sr.
Born August 7, 1923 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Randolph Kirkpatrick and Maude Mays Kirkpatrick. She retired from Lynchburg General Hospital and was a member of Park View United Methodist Church. Her passion in life was her family, she loved being surrounded by all of them and caring for them.
Mildred is also preceded in death by three sisters: Arlene Hackett, Naomi Major and Nannie Lee Kirkpatrick; three brothers: James , Edwin (Ed), and Reginald (Reggie) Kirkpatrick; and a grandson: Arthur Pribble III.
She is survived by her three daughters: Dianne B. Vassar, Susan B. Pribble, and Cheryl Beard Hyatt; son: Harold Curtis Beard, Jr.; Sisters: Joyce Houston, Rebecca (Becky) Myers; brothers: Kenneth Kirkpatrick, Clifford (Cliff) Kirkpatrick, Thomas (Bud) Kirkpatrick; grandchildren: Phil Vassar, Terri Howell, Traci Toney, Tabatha Emmerson, Scott Moon, Heather Hyatt, Ryan Davis, Michael Pribble, Brad Pribble, Angela Smith, Chris, Keith, Kellie and Tyler Beard; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday December 30, 2013 at Fort Hill Memorial Park conducted by the Rev. John Sines, Jr. The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home prior to the service from 12:00-1:30.
