Mildred Parsons Ware, 92, of Midlothian, formerly of Lynchburg, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, after a short illness.
Born in Amherst County on May 24, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon and Carrie Wright Parsons. Mildred was retired from Lynchburg College and a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Ware Jr., her brother, Edward W. Parsons, and two sisters, Victoria Saunders Parsons and Ruth Parsons.
She is survived by one son, James (Jim) T. Ware III, and wife, Joanne, of Amelia Island, Fla.; one daughter, Emily Ware Shenal, and husband, Johnny V. Shenal; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, 118 Commonwealth Drive, Madison Heights, with visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery, 126 Grandview Drive, Amherst.
