Minerva Theresa Taylor

Minerva Theresa Taylor, 76, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on March 19, 2025. She was born to the late Jesse F. Brooks and Geneva T. Brooks on September 20, 1948, in the city of Durham, NC. In addition to her parents, Minerva is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 52 years, Willie Ray Taylor, and her brothers Larry Brooks and Antonio Brooks.

Minerva graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1970. She then pursued her Master’s degree at Lynchburg College (University of Lynchburg) soon after marriage and moving to Lynchburg, Virginia.

Minerva was a member of Cornerstone Community Church where she served alongside her late husband, Willie Ray Taylor, for over 25 years. She was an intercessory prayer warrior and loved reading, studying the Word of God, and encouraging and praying for her family and the body of Christ.

Minerva is survived by her three beautiful daughters, Ivy Frank (Myran), Camie Cabler (Eric) and Brandy Polaski (Russell); her siblings Eric Brooks, Jesse James Brooks, Wanda Shereen Johnson (Anthony), Barry Brooks (Dorothy), Jeffrey Brooks and Marsha Johnson; her brother-in-law Clyde R. Taylor and sister-in-law Evette Campbell (Victor) and sister-in-law Barbara Brooks; her aunts Nora Gattis, Barbara Jean Link and Shirley Byrd; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The celebration of a life so beautifully lived will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Community Church. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 12 noon on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Cornerstone Community Church, 525 Old Graves Mill Rd., Lynchburg, VA. Mrs. Minerva Taylor will lie in repose on Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28 from 9:00 A.M. Until 6:00 P.M.
