Morgan Olivia Porter, a radiant girl of nearly 15, passed peacefully to heaven, July 9th, 2023 after battling lymphoma, holding her parents’ hands. She leaves an inestimable legacy of bravery, kindness, grace, and empathy. Morgan joined us as a special soul on August 24th, 2008 and from the beginning of life she was a bright light with the most beautiful smile and, as it would happen, immeasurable courage, which she displayed until the end.
Morgan was given a second chance at life on January 25, 2012, when she was the recipient of a heart transplant; her Heart Day was celebrated yearly with equal honor as her birthday. Her gifted years after the transplant allowed her to spread kindness and joy to everyone around her locally, and even globally, with her uplifting and welcoming way with others and in a particular manner with animals.
From age 5, Morgan made her first caring contact with horses and developed into an equestrian who moved with elegance on the horses she rode. They were groomed with love and she guided them through their gaits with so much happiness. She was also the biggest sports fan. Where on any given day she would be cheering on her favorite teams, most notably the Baylor Bears, where she hoped to have attended college to study sports broadcasting.
Morgan lived her life to the fullest; she stood tall and was loved by many. Her younger brother Owen was always by her side in shared adventures. Her parents, Sarah and Robby, invited her to live life boldly and on her terms, for she was a warrior. Think of her with a smile, a reflection of her faith and radiant trust in God; she would treasure that.
A wake will be held on Sunday, July 23rd from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Tharp Funeral Home on 220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg VA 24502.
