Moultrie Miller, 94, passed away on January 8, 2012. Mr. Miller was born June 3, 1917, in Columbia, SC.
He patriotically served his country in WWII for four years after which he was employed by the Long Island Railroad until his retirement in 1971. He raised his family in Yonkers, NY prior to his retirement and moved to Vero Beach, FL in 1976. He and his wife moved to Lynchburg, VA in 2008 to be closer to their son. He became a resident of Heritage Green Retirement Home in 2010 with his loving wife of 63 years, Carmen Miller.
Moultrie was an avid WWII historian and enjoyed sharing his war stories about Europe. He also loved sailing on the open sea, and had a passion for trains, locomotives, and anything railroad related. Moultrie and Carmen travelled the world extensively in their retirement.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two children: Erik Miller and his wife Connie of Bedford County, and Michele and her husband John of Maine; three grand children and two great grand children.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on January 13, 2012 at the Heritage Green Retirement Home at 201 Lillian Lane, Lynchburg, VA
