Mrs. Evelyn Grace Hendricksen
Evelyn Grace Hendricksen passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at her residence in Forest, Virginia. Evelyn was born on August 26, 1925, in North Bergen, New Jersey, and grew up on Staten Island, New York. She went to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and Wagner College on Staten Island. During WWII, she worked as a draftsman in the naval shipyard building Navy destroyers. In 1947, she married her husband of 68 years, Henry. She was very active in her church, Zion Lutheran Church in Staten Island and The Sons of Norway. In 1964, they moved to Virginia.
Evelyn was a very successful real estate broker for Stevens and Co. and Ray Wheeler Real Estate, and was very active in the Charlottesville Garden Club. She received many awards for her arrangements from the Garden Club of Virginia and St. Mark Lutheran Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. She also received many awards from the Needlework Guild of America in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, Dr. A. Ronald Hendricksen and his wife, Dottie of Lynchburg, Va., and Stephen C. Hendricksen and wife, Rita of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Charles of Lynchburg, Va., Christopher of Charlotte, N.C., Michael of Harrisonburg, Va., Tyson of Redding, Calif., and Virginia of Antwerp, Belgium; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dwight Oldham and the Pearson Cancer Center and Centra Hospice for the excellent care she received. Special thanks to caregivers, Sandy Thomas, Tonya Dolinger, Rochelle Hughes, Bonnie Childress, Catherine Kirkpatrick, Terry Bettinger, and Rosa Verdinella.
A graveside service will be held at Monticello Memory Gardens, Charlottesville Virginia, on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joel Wallschlaeger, pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Lynchburg, officiating.

Mr. Alf Henry Hendricksen
Alf Henry Hendricksen passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2015. Mr. Hendricksen was born on May 14, 1922, in Brooklyn, New York. When WWII started, he enlisted in the Army and served as a medic coming ashore following the invasion at Normandy. He saw combat in France, Belgium, The Battle of the Bulge, and Remagen. After WWII, Henry attended Wagner College in Staten Island. He married Evelyn Bodien in 1947, and went into the funeral business with his father-in-law. He was very active in The Sons of Norway on Staten Island. He and Evelyn moved to Virginia in 1964.
