Myrtice Driskill Michael

Myrtice Driskill Michael passed away January 7, 2024.  Myrtice was born July 5, 1927, in Lynchburg, Virginia to Ruth Driskill and Buford Driskill.

She was survived by her daughter, Karen Michael and a brother, Bill Driskill.  She was predeceased by her son, Ken Michael, her brother, Bo Driskill and her parents.

Myrtice spent her entire 96 years in Lynchburg.  She received her education in the Lynchburg School System.  After high school, Myrtice started her career in the Lynchburg Tax Office and later moved into the Lynchburg School System, working in the office of John Wyatt Elementary School, and Sandusky Middle School.  She later moved to Heritage High School where she worked until she was 87 years old.  

Myrtice was a wonderful person with a positive attitude.  She was a long-time member of Heritage United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a long-time member of the Sweet Adelines.  Myrtice will be remembered by her smile and kindness as well as her keen wit.  

A Memorial Service for Myrtice will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with the Rev. Mary Beth Coleman officiating.
