Nancy Manley Ragland

Nancy Manley Ragland, 86, of Big Island, VA left this earth for her new home on Monday, October 23, 2023. Nancy was born in Bedford County on June 17, 1937, to the late Sidney T. Manley and Evelyn Goff Manley. She is preceded in death by her loving husband David Thomas Ragland. Nancy married David on   August 24, 1953, and they had 69 years together.

 In addition to her late parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Duval, Billy, Jimmy, and Peter Manley; sister, Carry Manley; and special son-in-law C.V. Morehead.

She was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church in Big Island. She had a passion for cooking and baking. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn R. Morehead, grandson, Jody S. Morehead and wife, Heather; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Justin, and Abigail Morehead; and brother, Lester “Punk” Manley.

The family would like to thank everyone for their visits, food, cards, and prayers for Nancy before and after her passing. Everyone is welcome to come by and visit Carolyn and family anytime at her home in Big Island.  

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Bledsoe officiating.  Family and friends are welcome to visit Carolyn’s home after the service.
