Nancy Banton King, 75, of Lynchburg, VA, died Wednesday, November 07, 2012.
Nancy was born Thursday, October 14, 1937 in Lynchburg, VA, a daughter of the late Lawrence F. Banton and the late Lillian Blankenship Banton. As a young person she was an excellent athlete, where she excelled in softball, basketball and tennis. She was retired from Lynchburg City Schools where she was Teachers Aide and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was a very giving person always thinking of others first. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
She is survived by a daughter: Kimberly Quarles and her husband, Jeffrey Quarles of Forest; a brother: Larry Banton of Lynchburg; a sister: Sheryl Glass of Lynchburg, and her best friend: Ruth Owens of Lynchburg, VA. She also survived by her grandchildren: Brent and Stephanie Kennedy, Brandon and Bobbie Sue Kennedy, Jessica Quarles and Jeremy Quarles and two great-grandchildren: Luke James Kennedy and Anna Belle Kennedy.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5;00 pm on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Nancy's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Tharp Funeral home with Pastor Rick Ecklund officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
