Nancy Brooks Milton, 66, passed away in the early evening of Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on July 1, 1955, she was the daughter of the late John Lawson Brooks, Jr., and Margaret Newman Brooks of Gladys, Virginia.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Lee Milton of Lynchburg, her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Lynn Boteler of Gladys, her niece Stephanie Boteler and her husband Hampton Farmer of Nathalie, her nephew Jason Boteler of Gladys, her brother-in-law Jack Woodall of Spout Spring, his children Wendy Saunders and Greg Woodall, and her goddaughter Carrie V. Smith and her husband James W. Parrett Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Peggy Woodall, and her best friend, Carol Smith.
Nancy spent her career as a medical assistant, working in a variety of offices and specialties. She was most proud of the years spent working for Planned Parenthood, where she felt she was able to have the largest impact on her patients. She also served as a board member for the Virginia chapter of the American Association of Medical Assistants.
Nancy loved all things musical, and was a long-time member of FACination, a choral group sponsored by the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center. She was also a remarkably gifted pianist and singer. She was well known for her culinary skills; many weddings and birthdays were celebrated with cakes she made and professionally decorated, and Christmases would not have been the same without her famous mints and homemade rolls. She and her husband Jeff were avid NASCAR fans, and loved the beach, especially the Outer Banks, and Daytona Beach, Florida.
Nancy loved life, and was an instant friend to anyone she met. She was a vibrant, upbeat person, and anyone who met her felt that impact. She enjoyed family gatherings, and the simple things. Time with people she loved meant everything to her.
Her family will host a memorial service on May 28, 2022 at 11:00a.m. at 2054 Aspen Rd. Phenix, VA 23959, home of Pam Milton Layne. All are welcome to attend.
