Nancy Moore Bryant Billingsley

February 25, 1931 — April 26, 2021

Nancy Moore Bryant Billingsley, 90, resident of Orlando, Florida and longtime resident of Lynchburg, Virginia, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on April 26, 2021.  Nancy was born in Lynchburg on February 25, 1931. On October 9, 1948, Nancy married William Franklin Billingsley, Jr. who predeceased her on September 18, 2003 after 55 years of marriage.  She is also predeceased by her parents Lillian Moore Bryant of Lynchburg and Nathan Rawley Bryant of Richmond, and in-laws Lois and Eugene Stone of Lynchburg, Frances and James Carey of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Robert Billingsley of Wytheville, Virginia. She is survived by her two sons, William Franklin Billingsley, III (Frank) and David Moore Billingsley, both of Orlando. She is also survived by sister-in-law Betty Billingsley of Wytheville and eight nieces and nephews.

Nancy was a lifelong member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church in Lynchburg.  In 2006, she moved to Orlando where she was an active member of Conway United Methodist Church. While at Fort Hill, she was a devoted member of the Sanctuary Choir and the Forrest Oglesby class, and volunteered with many projects and initiatives.  She knitted hundreds of caps for newborn babies at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She dedicated her life to being a homemaker, and loyal spouse and parent. Nancy traveled with her husband to all 50 states and many countries throughout the world and enjoyed gardening, history, genealogy, camping, hiking, piano and music. She loved the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains and regular vacations to the beaches of South Carolina and Florida.

Nancy will join her husband, mother and other relatives in burial at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. by the Reverend Marc Brown.

Her sons would like to thank the staff of The Commons and The Windsor at Orlando Lutheran Towers for their care over the last several years. In lieu of flowers, and for those wanting to memorialize her memory, please consider contributing to Fort Hill United Methodist Church, 106 Oakridge Blvd, Lynchburg, VA 24502; or contributing to plant tabebuia trees in Orlando through the Orlando Community and Youth Trust, 1206 West Columbia Street, Orlando, Florida 32805; or dogwood trees in Lynchburg through the Old City Cemetery, 401 Taylor Street, Lynchburg, Virginia 24501.
