Nancy Virginia Layne Crank, 91, of Lynchburg, VA, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. She was wife of the late Robert William Crank, Sr.
Born Monday, March 23, 1924 in Campbell County, Nancy was a daughter of the late Robert Steptoe Layne and the late Nannie Daniel Layne.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia “Poochie” Gentry and four brothers and two sisters.
Nancy is survived by her son, Robert William “Bill” Crank, Jr., her daughter, Susan Poltar (Richard), five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, son-in-law, Doug Gentry, brother-in-law, Pete Crank, and a special caregiver, Stephanie Cannon. She is also survived by her niece, Katherine “Kitty” Wilmer.
Nancy retired after 42 years from Leighton Heel and Counter Corp. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Christian Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and at other times at the home of Susan and Richard. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Springhill Cemetery with Pastor Steve Turner officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
