Nathan William Faidley

May 6, 1990 — April 11, 2019

Nathan William Faidley, 28, of Lynchburg, VA, died Thursday, April 11, 2019. Born Sunday, May 06, 1990 in Bedford, VA, Nathan was the son of David Faidley and Carol Anne Hynes.

Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Karl Faidley. He is survived by his parents and four siblings, Anne, Stephen, Laura, and Hannah, and his grandparents, Dorothy Faidley and Robert and Anne Hynes.

In his 28 years of life, Nathan William fulfilled the meaning of his name as a “gift from God” and “resolute protector.” He will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and caring young man who was eager to lend a helping hand, lighten the mood with humor, and look out for the underdog. Nathan loved animals and enjoyed the outdoors. He spent much of his free time backpacking, kayaking, gardening, beekeeping, and exploring nature. One of his lifelong dreams was to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. Nathan graduated with honors from Holy Cross Regional Catholic School and completed coursework in computer science at Central Virginia Community College. Nathan was employed in a variety of service positions and enjoyed contributing to the lives of others. In recent years, Nathan battled mental illness and drew support from the Lynchburg recovery community.

A celebration of Nathan’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Roads to Recovery, an independent, non-profit corporation in the Lynchburg area supportive of those seeking recovery. Nathan’s family is grateful for the care, love, and support the Roads to Recovery staff and fellow residents offered Nathan.
