Neil Milton Dick

Neil Milton Dick, 82, of Wirtz, VA, died Tuesday March 13, 2012 at his home. He was born in Shermans Dale, PA, on June 10, 1929, a son of the late Cloyd Ostend Dick and Esther Shatto Dick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Edith P. Dick; an infant son, Neil M. Dick, Jr., a brother, Vincent Dick and a sister, Esther Shearer.

Neil is survived by a daughter, Nilene Mosher and her husband, Richard, of Wirtz; a son, Dennis Dick and his wife, Theresa \"Terry\" of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Geoffrey Mosher and his wife, Rebeca, of Jersey City, NJ; Bradley Mosher of Raleigh, NC and Andrew Dick of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Jennifer Mosher of Blacksburg, VA and Julie Dick of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Cloyd Dick and his wife, Olive of Shermans Dale, PA; a sister-in-law, Josephine Dick of Shermans Dale, PA; a sister-in-law, Nina Minich and her husband, Harry Minich; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Neil was the Director of Toll Operations and Maintenance on the NYS Thruway for thirty-three years. In addition, he was an inventor, who held a patent for an automated coin collector and sorter that was used on toll roads throughout the world.

He was a past master of Masonic Temple Lodge #14 of Albany, NY and a mason for forty-five years. He was very active in church and community activities, especially with his church, Epworth United Methodist.

He and his wife moved to Smith Mountain Lake from Schnectady, NY in 1991. Their retirement home was chosen to provide a retreat for his entire family and friends to spend fun-filled weeks enjoying the activities that he loved; golf, boating, water-skiing, fishing and above all, time with loved ones. Neil and Edie traveled extensively and enjoyed exploring different cultures.

A celebration of Neil\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Epworth United Methodist Church with Pastor Joshua D. Munnikhuysen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, March 16, 2012 at Epworth United Methodist Church.
