Nellie Marie Thomas

Nellie Marie Thomas, 77 went home to be with her heavenly father Tuesday, July 9, 2013. She is finally at peace after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer\"™s. She resided at the Odd Fellows Home in Lynchburg, VA.

Marie was born Saturday, February 8, 1936 in Meadowview, VA, the second youngest child of James and Charlotte Eskridge. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, 14 brothers and sisters and her children\"™s father: Clifton L. Thomas

She is survived by four children: Cathy Mayberry, Brenda Robertson (Troy), Michael Thomas and James Thomas (Kim). Nine grandchildren: Jeanna, Ryan, Cybil, Cody, Carly, Steven, Michael, Noah and Gavin, six great-grandchildren: D\"™Andre, Kaylee, Jaxson, Destiny, Zachery and Michah. She is also survived by two sisters: Ella Mae Hankins, and Edith Mann (Ray), as well as two devoted nieces, Susie Drinkard (Tim) and Judy Hankins and a special friend, Jean Mayberry.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Tree of Life Cemetery, Altavista, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer\"™s Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA, 22901 or a charity of your choice in her memory.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Oddfellows Home for all of their love, support and care shown to our mother during her struggle with this disease.
