Nellie Maxey Elliott

Nellie Maxey Elliott, 77, of Evington died Tuesday October 2, 2012. She was the devoted wife of the late Alvah Phillip Elliott.

 Nellie was born September 30, 1935 in Lynchburg a daughter of the late John William Maxey and the late Lessie Talley Maxey. Nellie worked as a food processor with the Mrs. Giles company. She loved spending time with her family, going to the beach and fishing. Nellie attended the Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene.

 She is survived by two daughters: Sherry E. Hill and husband Perry of Lynchburg and Robin E. Magann and husband Frank of Evington, a son Tony Elliott and wife Terry of Lynchburg, a son-in-law Jay Kidd of Blacksburg, eight grandchildren: Brandee Megredy and husband Shawn, Chris Falls and wife Aimee, Blake Hill and wife Candice, Tonya Mays and husband Chris, Andrew Kidd, April Campbell and husband Casey, Skylar Elliott and Paige Elliott, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters: Mary Sheppard of Lynchburg, Virginia Parrish of Lynchburg, and Pearl Campbell of Madison Heights, a brother William Maxey and wife Geneva of Lynchburg, and a special friend Mary Jane Magann of Evington. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter Cathy E. Kidd.

 A Celebration of Nellie\"™s Life will be held at 11:00 am Friday October 5, 2012 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with Pastor Steven Willis officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

 In lieu of flowers please consider making memorial contributions to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center 1920 Atherholt Road Lynchburg, VA 24501.

 The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. John MacNeill, the Oncology staff at Lynchburg General Hospital, and to Centra Hospice for their loving care and support.
