Nettie Alice Coles Jones

Nettie Alice Coles Jones, 75, of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

Nettie was born July 31, 1949, in Amherst, daughter of the late Robert Leslie Coles and Mary Katherine Braxton Coles. Nettie retired from Wintergreen Ski Resort and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Amherst.

She is survived by her children; Ann Coles of Amherst, Nathaniel Jones (Gina) of Honduras, James Jones, Jr. (Mellinda) of Amherst and Mary Paxton of Summerville, SC, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Shirley Payne and Mamie Coles both of Amherst.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert Coles, sister Bessie Morris, and a brother-in-law Thomas Payne.

In honor of her wishes a memorial service will not be held. Flowers may be made to the home of the late Nettie Jones.
