Nicholas Christian Bernard

Nicholas Christian Bernard, 18, of Bedford passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bethesda, MD on November 25, 2000. A loving, smart, young man who never met a stranger. Nicholas was a very athletic, outgoing, funny and sweet soul. A great son, grandson, brother and friend. He touched so many lives in such a short time. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all that knew him.

Nicholas is survived by his mother, Heather Detamore Carter and her husband, Eric Lee Carter; father, Jason Lee Bernard and his wife, Jessica Erin Bernard; siblings, Hannah Grace Detamore, Elizabeth Kathryn Detamore, Oliver Detamore Carter and Jason Lee Bernard, II; maternal grandmother “Grammy”, Barbara Detamore; paternal grandparents, Robert Bernard, Sr and Shirley Bernard; another grandmother, Debbie Carter and great-grandparents, John and Ethylanne Smith; aunts, Mitzi Detamore and her husband, Keith Morris, Kathy Jo Detamore and fiancee, Keith Barlow, Audrey Bernard, Tracy Bernard and Amy Bernard; uncle, Robert Bernard, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer. Also survived are numerous extended family and so many friends. Nicholas was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ray Howard Detamore; an uncle Matthew Mark Bernard and his very dear friend Quincy Plattus.

A funeral service and celebration of Nicholas’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Liberty High School Auditorium with Pastor Ray T. Lyons officiating.
