Nolan Squier

Nolan Squier passed from this life to glory on April 15 at age 82 after his courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  He was born December 14, 1940 in Wichita Falls, Texas and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.  He served in ROTC throughout high school and college and is a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Army Reserves and the Army National Guard from 1963-1991.  Nolan obtained a Masters of Management Science degree from Texas Christian University in 1963 and moved to San Diego, California in 1978 to work for General Dynamics as a Logistics Engineer.  There he raised his two children and met his wife Lori.  Lynchburg, Virginia became home in 2001 when he semi-retired to be near his children and grandchildren.  Nolan loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, being with his family, camping, building projects, and repairing things.  He served his country again in the Virginia Defense Force and taught as an adjunct professor at Liberty University before officially retiring.

Affectionately known as Pops to his family, Nolan is survived by his spouse Lori; his daughter Kristie Kucera  (Pete); and grandchildren Schyler and Sean (Gabby); his Son Bryon (Laurie) ;  grandchildren Leah Carter (David) and Brad (Tori); and 6 great grandchildren: Kolton, Benjamin, Avery, McKenna, Fynlee, and Reagan; his brother Bailey and sister Delores Ross.  He was preceded in death by his parents William and Thelma Squier, brothers Guy Squier and Pete Squier.

A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29 at 4:00 p.m.  The family requests donations to the Lynchburg Area Veterans Council  or the Lewy Body Dementia Organization in lieu of flowers.
