Nomesio Tavares Faria

Nomesio “Norm” Tavares Faria of Goode, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, June 29, at the age of 87 in his home surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of Anne Faria for 65 years.  He was born December 22, 1935 and was one of seven children born to the late Manuel Faria and Alzira Faria.

Norm was born in the Azores in Portugal.  He immigrated to the United States in 1952 and resided in Rhode Island until 1988 when he moved to Virginia.  He operated a family owned bakery for 30 years in Rhode Island and later in Lynchburg, Virginia.

He was the father of six loving children; Norman Faria, Anne Boudreau (Joe), Leo Faria (Linda), Kevin Faria (Shawna), Long Truong (Huyen), Binh Truong (Tuyen). Grandfather of eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one son, Norman Faria.

Visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, 320 N Bridge Street in Bedford, on Tuesday, July 4 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.  A funeral mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary on Oakwood Street in Bedford on Wednesday, July 5 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Church.
