Surrounded by her loving daughters, Norma Jean Patterson Wells went into the loving hands of our Lord and Savior on January 16, 2015. Norma was born March 2, 1931 in Lynchburg. Norma was a charter member of Memorial Christian Church, owner of Coffey’s Store, and an accomplished seamstress. Also known as Meemaw, Norma Jean was a loving and dedicated wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She loved to watch her family grow and succeed and she found joy in taking trips, listening to music, and helping others.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gene Wells, father Clayton Patterson, mother Christie Patterson, and daughter Terry Vasold.
Survived by daughters Lisa Wood, husband Larry and Sheila Wells, her grandchildren: Tara Fischer and husband Keith, Jared Vosold and wife Sarah, Casey Wood and wife Jill, Gene Wood and fiancee Lauren Cole, Jessee Vasold, Christie Wood and boyfriend Conrad Huband, Joseph Vasold and wife Jamie, Spencer Bourguignon, Lexey Bourguignon, Clay Bourguignon, her great-grandchildren: Lilly Wood, Luke Fischer, Allie Wood, Dawson Vasold, and Thaddeus Vasold.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 20, 2015 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with the Rev. Virgil Knipp & the Rev. Sue Knipp officiating. Entombment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
